Parabens (Synthetic Preservative), Phthalates (Silicone Plasticizer to make formulas & products more flexible), Mercury..need we say more, Formaldehyde - yet another commonly used synthetic preservative, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol (can affect brain & central nervous system as well as irritation to skin). All of these are endocrine disrupters and can cause hormonal and reproductive problems and birth defects. Many are known carcinogens and respiratory toxins. They may often come in cosmetic labels with abbreviations such as DEA, DBP, DMP.

Toxic chemicals are still found in the largest cosmetic and personal care companies, especially in the U.S. where oftentimes there is little or no regulation required compared to other countries.
